WINE IN KWAZULU-NATAL
As the industry is up and coming in Kwa-Zulu Natal we are thrilled to be part of the trailblazing pioneers in this great adventure of winemaking. As Natal is not typically known for the production of wine, we are on the journey to discover the potential this area has, and the results thus far speak volumes.
Being one of three certified wine farms in the province, we have the vision of creating a new wine route – expanding with our country’s internationally competitive wines and industry with a new, bold, and fresh artistic iteration.
WINE TASTING
How does the wine tasting work?
Aiming to make the experience a memorable one for our guests, you will arrive gently greeted by the smell of the country, and if you walk into our cellar the classic scent of oak barrels. You will be presented with 100% estate wines which have all been grown on the farm, and many of the vineyards can be seen if seated outside in the picturesque scenery.
You will have the opportunity to do a tasting of four wines – or sit back and order a bottle of your favourite.

Wine sales
As Highgate Wine Estate is still a developing farm, we focus our wine sales in the tasting room – this way, you will find yourself purchasing a wine where you have experienced the nature of its origin. As we do have limited bottles & are in a very unique area, you will be able to buy a wine unlike any other, and one not many will have the opportunity to own
HUNGRY?
Feeling hungry? Maybe you need to soak up all of that wine with some food?
Well, we’ve got you covered! We have a number of food options available. Such as tapas, cheese boards, and wholesome meals at the restuarant – all go magnificently with our wines.

Come and enjoy a basket of delightful food and drinks on our beautiful Highgate Wine Estate. Sit between the vines, in the forest or overlooking the dam, there’s a spot for everyone.
Picnics are R750 per couple or R375 per person
Must book and pay 48 hours in advance.

We are trying to move to a waste free direction, to become more environmentally friendly.
No plastic balloons or decorations allowed on the premises.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do our grapes come from?
We grow all of our own vineyards on the farm, we have close to five hectares and have plans to expand.
When can I do a Wine Tasting?
Currently on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday, between 11:00am and 4:00pm. Wine tastings are first come first serve.
Where can I purchase your wine?
For now, in the Tasting Room and Parklane Spar Tops in PMB or we can deliver. As we have limited stocks, we are slowly releasing our wines elsewhere.
Must I book?
Making a reservation at Highgate is essential. We only take reservations for lunch and wine. If you only want to do a wine tasting – it is first come first serve.
